5 Tips to Keep Your Car Running Through Summer

As we get closer to summer, we can feel excitement around the dealership start to grow. From vacation plans to some time with the family, it’s clear we all love summer. But all that fun (and heat) can be hard on your vehicle. So we complied a short list to keep your car or truck running strong throughout summer.

  1. Check your Engine: Oil can take a big hit during winter. It’s possible your car may not need a change, but when it comes to the engine, it’s better to play it safe. Without lubrication, friction will build up between moving parts causing the life cycle of your engine to decrease significantly.
  2. Check Your Tires: Temperature can fluctuate between winter and summer. That fluctuation can be rough on your tires. While cooler weather typically causes low tire pressure, the opposite goes for summer. Heat causes the air to expand, which in turn could cause your tires to pop.
  3. Replace Your Wipers: Believe it or not, winter can cause a lot of wear and tear on your windshield wipers. Be sure to check and change your wipers as need be to ensure they work as effectively as possible.
  4. Flush Your Cooling System: It’s recommended that you flush your cooling system about once every two years. This can vary from model to model and make to make, so be sure you read over your owner’s manual.
  5. Test the Battery: Just like tires, your car’s battery is also affected by changes in weather. Bring your battery to our Service Center to get tested, it’ll only take a couple of minutes and could save you some headaches.
